POSTAL SERVICE IN THE SULTANATE OF OMAN: A GLANCE AT THE PAST.

If we look back in history to the year 1602, we see that the East India Co, was set up then, in accordance with a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth the First. The British government was subsequently able to establish political offices in the gulf region,

through this Company and government of India.
Britain
assumed control of the postal service provided in the
Sultanate, with the
servic

provided by the offices at first receiving its instructions from the India Post Office, then the Pakistani Post Office, and finally coming under direct British administration up to 1966. At this time, however, the service was performed under the guidance of the British Post Office, but by Omanis themselves.
